Philips Speech Processing

Working for interactive agency RedClay Creative, and in close collaboration with Philips marketing staff in each target market, we localized the contents of the Philips Speech Processing site to four European languages. We explained and implemented a locale (geography crossing with language) matrix, so that their site structure and navigation elements truly reflected all the possible scenarios of end user language preferences and home regions.

As with many e-commerce projects for geographically dispersed product marketing teams, we found several inconsistencies in the original product specs that we were to localize. We began by quality controlling the incoming material to resolve the specification differences in conversations with the individual geography managers.

Since the initial site launch, we have maintained it as new products are introduced. The ASP-driven site launched using a Microsoft Access database and later migrated to Microsoft SQL Server 2000.

Source language: English
Target languages: Dutch, French, Spanish, German
