Projects for Bertelsmann, HP, Levi's and Philips
Our clients represent a great diversity of vertical sectors, website technologies and linguistic challenges. Four good examples are the projects we recently delivered to global brands owned by Bertelsmann, HP, Levi's and Philips. The BMG Music Group at Bertelsmann has long maintained a sophisticated music search application for professionals, such as film soundtrack creators, who work with BMG's entire catalog of hundreds of thousands of tracks. Formerly, the application was a so-called fat client standalone program that communicated over the internet with the corporate database. BMG commissioned the interactive agency Dotted Eye to convert it to BMG MusicSearch. We were chosen to localize it to several European languages. Much more than a website, this is a B2B distributed application. Read more about our role in this project. Meanwhile, our friends at Modem Media run a pan-European advertising campaign for HP printers and Omnibooks, which we localize to five languages on an ongoing basis. Learn more about the specifics of ad banner localization here. The excitement that Levi's generates with its Rub Yourself campaign has been contagious! We localized the copy decks of several mini-websites for their interactive agency Good Technology. Details here. Finally, the Speech Processing Division of Philips and their interactive agency Red Clay Creative asked us to localize their products website and database to four languages and the five global regions where Philips operates -- everywhere but Antarctica. We sorted through the usual list of product specification and database issues while delivering this project. Handling these projects simultaneously meant working with four global 100 brands, their corporate and field teams, our linguists in several time zones and languages, and our designers, project managers and programmers. Each project meant coordinating 20 or more people. The keys to our success are the sheer number of website localization projects that we have delivered -- 500 and counting -- and our proprietary software Weblations Cypher® and the Weblations Workspace®.
