Speaking in tongues with ColdFusion®

It's no surprise that website content management applications such as ColdFusion®, Domino® and Vignette® are gaining popularity. They can help us -- even teach us -- to develop Internet-based applicationsfor customer relations, transactions and marketing, rather than static on-line brochures.

However, the power that these applications wield comes at a price: increasingly complex syntaxes, database strategies and file formats. You call them innovations, but to a classical translation agency they look like obstacles. At Weblations, we couldn't be more pleased! The harder the better. That's our competitive edge.

We're proud to announce that Weblations Cypher® now handles the entire ColdFusion 4.0 tag set. Weblations can localize, version control and apply Cypher Memory to native ColdFusion (.cfm) files. In the future, we will develop these capabilities for other website management suites.

Recent projects delivered

Since our last update in April we've localized nine websites to a cumulative total of 35 target languages. That raises the number of projects listed on our clients page to 41 -- to our knowledge, multiples more than any competitor.

Increasingly, we're being asked to merge copy translated by a client with an agency's HTML template and deliver ready-to-go HTML files and images. Typically, the client wants to re-use an existing print translation for linguistic consistency, but doesn't have the means to build it as an HTML file.

This was the case for the IBM e-business site that we assembled for Ogilvy Interactive (Madrid, Spain), and for the IBM PartnerRewards site that we produced for iXL (New York).

Other highlights from the last batch of projects:BusinessElite, our second Delta Air Lines project for Modem Media.Poppe Tyson, and the Spanish food company Campofrío, for Teknoland of Madrid, Spain.
