Translating and producing images isn't rocket science, but it does require the coordinated teamwork of linguists, HTML programmers and production artists, often working on different continents.
The text in an image presents several challenges: the word choice needs to be optimized for the space available, spelling errors found and corrected, and so on. In many cases, the height and width of gifs need to be adjusted to permit words to fit the space allotted. For example, each button in a crowded horizontal navigation bar may need to be resized to fit its translated word while maintaining a constant overall width for the navigation bar (the sum of all of the button widths).
What's more, the words used for titles and headers in the images must correspond with the words used in the body text. Simply coordinating this obvious necessity can be a nightmare without adequate workflow management tools.
Finally, the resulting image must look identical to the original version. We achieve this either by using your native PhotoShop files, when available, or by painstakingly erasing the source language text from an image, repairing the background and dropping in the target language text using a visually identical font.
